Music Department was the first to offer undergraduate music education courses in Qingdao . Sui Wenju and Zhu Hongyi, famous music educators have laid a solid foundation for the department's development.
　The department has 26 experienced teachers, who all graduated from professional music colleges and universities in China .
　 The department offers academic credentials education and preschool music education, and undertakes the training of backbone teachers and pre-job training for primary and middle school new teachers. It has already established a higher vocational and technical full-time music education major.The department upholds the educational concept of Teaching and Learning for Application and college's talents-cultivating mode to create a first-class educational environment and reputation. It has cooperated and set up internship bases with Qingdao Shi Zheng Musical Instruments Company, Qingdao Hanyun Language Training School , Qingdao Tianhong Early Education School and Qingdao Zhengyi Musical Instruments Company. It is dedicated to training front line musical talents with high quality skills. It currently offers many courses, including Piano, Vocal Performance, Foundations of Music, Music Reading and Appreciation, Harmonics, Music History of China and Foreign Countries, Appreciation of Foreign Music, Appreciation of Ethnic and Folk Music, Appreciation of Famous Fine Arts of Foreign Countries, Composition, Symphonic Performance, Training in Dance and Choreography, Choral Conducting, Music Methodology, Duplex Tone, Music Works Analysis, Piano Accompaniment, Art Theory and Foundations of Fine Arts.
　 The department has trained numerous excellent national music teachers, professional actors and artistic personnel in the past years. Yan Bing and Liu Jinzhu were named Excellent Tutors of Adult Education and Vocational Education in Shandong Province . The Essays by Zhu Hongyi, Qu Xiujiang and Yu Zhou won the national and provincial first prizes. Many teachers, including Liu Xiao and Liu Yanlin, have been honored as Excellent Tutors in piano competitions in Qingdao City and Shandong Province . Many students get prizes in all levels of music competitions every year.
