    The First Jia Hua Scholarship Presentation Ceremony was held in the Performance Hall of QTC on the afternoon of Sept. 25. Mr. Wu Tingxun, Initiator of the Jia Hua Scholarship and President of North California Branch of America Pan-Asia Chamber of Commerce, Mrs. Ma Xue, Vice President of Global Chinese Herbal Medicine Association, Dr. Shi Zhongjian, President of QTC, Mr. Liu Jiamin, Vice President of QTC attended the meeting, and Mr. Song Yu, Vice Secretary of the CPC Committee of QTC presided over the ceremony. The parents of the nominee students were invited to be present.
    Dr. Shi Zhongjian introduced the foundation of Jia Hua Scholarship and the brief resume of Mrs. Ma and Mr. Wu. Dr. Shi recalled the visit of Mr. Wu to QTC accompanied by President Ma in 2004. During that visit, Mr. Wu was impressed by the united working spirit, the contribution of the college to vocational education in China through its hard work. As a result Mr. Wu decided to set up a scholarship in the name of Mrs Ma Xue’s father, Prof. Ma of Qingdao Medical College. This is a brief background of the Jia Hua Scholarship. It is the first overseas scholarship offered to QTC, and it represents the humaneness and tender regards to the motherland and the hope to the youth from overseas Chinese. The scholarship is not only to encourage excellent students, but also to pass on the noble spirit full of patriotism, struggle and devotion. Dr. Shi Zhongjian wishes the students will forward this spirit and make great efforts in their chosen walk of life.
    Mr. Wu Tingxun mentioned that the purpose of the foundation of Jia Hua Scholarship is to fire up enthusiasm for study in the students and through their little spark, to encourage the students to value college life, to inspire the students to struggle for success and so make their own contribution to the nation and society. Mrs. Ma Xue, co-chairperson of the Jia Hua Scholarship Council, readout the award comments for the winners.
In the ceremony, Mr Liu Wei, Secretary of the Jia Hua Scholarship Council, Director of Students Affairs Dept. of QTC, made a report of the choosing of award winners. The first Jia Hua Scholarship includes Society Devotion Award, Excellent Skill Award, Co-operative Service Award, Honesty and Faith Award and Full Scholarship. There were 12 group and individuals were awarded, Wang Tiantian and Zhu Songlin expressed their thanks to Mr. Wu Tingxun and Mrs. Ma Xue. Inspired by their noble moral character, the students also expressed their determination to serve the country, to seek perfection and not let down the best wishes. The ceremony ended in the song from Education School Choir.
    After the ceremony, Mr. Wu Tingxun was made Guest Professor of QTC, and gave a lecture named Innovation and Enterprise Spirit. That night Mr. Wu Tingxun and Mrs. Ma Xue hosted a dinner for the award winners and their parents.
