Dr. Geert Derk Dales, President of INHOLLAND University of Applied Sciences, together with Willen Viets and Ms Wang Bingyan, who are respectively the Director and Advisor of International Cooperation Department in Southeast Asian, paid a formal visit to Qingdao Technical College (QTC) on May 15.
Accompanied by President Shi Zhongjian, Vice Party-Secretary Tan Sende and Vice President Liu Jiamin, President Dales visited the inner-college training bases of Haier School and School of Tourism and Foreign Affairs, where a simple communication about the bases construction, collaboration with the industries, the lectures by the industrial teachers, diploma issuing, and student employment was conducted during the detailed introduction of the bases by the responsible staff. Dales also congratulated Tan Sende on his new position of Vice Party-Secretary of QTC, who was the previous Vice-President of the College.
Followed was the visit of the Nuffic training class, where Liu Jiamin gave an introduction of the conducting of the training. Dales said as the President of INHOLLAND University of Applied Sciences he was very proud to have established long-term cooperation with QTC, and gave an introduction of his university as well as some relevant policies. He also mentioned that he was very delighted to find that QTC was positively doing research on Competency-Based Education and there existed a large space for the collaboration of the two sides. The trainees also made a brief report on their study from the two phases conducted respectively in the Netherlands and China to the guests.
Finally, a deep discussion on the concrete collaboration was held in the meeting room of International School, which was presided by Vice-President Liu Jiamin. Many aspects, such as student exchanging, overseas training and research, Chinese teaching, course construction and collaboration enlargement, were mentioned during the talk.
As for the student exchanging and teacher’s training and research, Dales confirmed the huge collaboration space of the two sides. The globalization demands to give the students more international environment, which would bring more advantages for the employment or self-employment of the students. Dales also brought forward many detailed suggestions for the students exchanging and the course construction of the Tourism and Leisure Management.
President Shi Zhongjian expressed that the current achievement and further development should be guaranteed and he put forward four proposals. Firstly, some activities, such as Exchanging Week should be held to enhance the understanding and collaboration of the two sides. Secondly, in order to promote the student exchanging, QTC could open some pilot short-term Chinese training classes for the students of INHOLLAND University of Applied Sciences. Next, QTC could select the excellent teachers and students to study in the Netherlands, and also welcomed the students or teachers of INHOLLAND University of Applied Sciences to study or work in QTC. Lastly, QTC could open some English training classes for IELTS as well as the teachers, with a purpose to raise the interests of the students to study English and to study in INHOLLAND University of Applied Sciences, and also to raise the English level of the teachers.
Dales was strongly for the proposals of President Shi Zhongjian, and stated that more detailed affairs as for the collaboration would be prepared the moment he returned to the Netherlands.
